About the Artist
Renuka’s path in Art
Early life
Renuka used to dream of becoming an artist since her childhood. She was brought up in a small town in a conventional business family. She got married at an early age and spent most of the time living in towns that were predominantly unresponsive to Art as a profession. It was only after Renuka relocated to Delhi in 2005 that she witnessed a thriving art scene, providing the perfect environment for artists to innovate and experiment. She started working in a School as an Art Teacher. Teaching Art became a source of livelihood as she transformed that experience in her artwork. Renuka started experimenting with Oil and Acrylic on Canvas followed by Sculptures and Digital Art. The artist in her resurrected after she started practicing art under the tutelage of Mr. Sanjay Roy & Mr. Rameshwar Broota in Triveni Kala Sangam. Her first art exhibition was titled “Elements in Space”. It was the beginning of her individual experiences intersecting with her artwork and shaping her identity as an artist

Art Life
Renuka Sondhi-Gulati’s oeuvre is art in motion. The fluidity of form in her sculptures, paintings, and installations merge reality with a mythical dimension, a futuristic vision that becomes real just by the fact that its visible through the artwork. In her art, Gulati weaves a visual bildungsroman that echoes at one level with every person and yet at another level with those whose life has been a trial by fire. Gulati’s canvas is a celebration of the living spirit embodied in the one who creates life- the woman, who endures pain and suffering, yet becomes the bridge to a liberating future. She has been bestowed with numerous awards and recognition from varied national and international institutions. Check her list of awards by scrolling down.
